Who We Are

  • In 1890, along the banks of the Ogden River in Ogden, Utah, John S. Becker and his two sons, Albert and Gustav ("Gus"), established the Becker Brewing and Malting Company. What began as a family venture grew into one of Utah's most storied brewing names, operating for roughly 75 years and becoming one of the longest continuously operating brewing companies in the state.

Through economic hardship, two World Wars, and Prohibition, the Becker name endured. When alcohol laws forced major changes, the company adapted by producing a near-beer called Becco and even starting a poultry-freezing business, proving resilience and reinvention that have always been part of the Becker legacy.

For generations, Becker's was more than a beer - it was part of Ogden's identity. The brewery helped shape the city's industrial and cultural history, and the Becker name remained deeply rooted in Northern Utah long after the original brewery closed in 1964. Even today, descendants of the family continue to protect that history and the legacy attached to the Becker name.

Now, that legacy is being revived for a new generation of drinkers.

More than just a brand, Becker's is a piece of Utah history. Karen Edson, maiden name Becker, helps preserve the spirit and story behind the name. Karen represents both tradition and renewal, offering a classic beer, revived for a new generation to enjoy.

A special part of this revival belongs to Mike Edson, whose passion and determination helped turn the vision of bringing Becker's back into reality. Mike played a crucial role in restoring not only the beer itself, but the passion for Becker's history. His passing on February 2nd, 2026, gives this story even deeper meaning. Though he is greatly missed, his dedication and belief in Becker's helped ensure that the name, the beer, and the legacy would live on.

Today, Becker's stands as a tribute to the families who preserved its history and the people who worked to bring it back to Utah. It is more than a beer - it is a celebration of Ogden's past, a revival of the Becker name, and a toast to the future.
